Celebrate the Complete 540 Project with us! As we approach the grand opening of the first phase of the Complete 540 Project in August, we want to celebrate with all the community members who made this project possible.

Folks from all around the Triangle will come together to celebrate the extension of the Triangle Expressway from N.C. 55 to I-40, connecting Apex, Cary, Clayton, Fuquay-Varina, Garner, Holly Springs, Raleigh and other local communities.

The 540 Fest charity partner is MS Events, Inc., a 501(c)3 non-profit that utilizes amateur athletic events to raise money for the National MS Society, ALS Foundation, and other organizations fighting neurological diseases.

Volunteers are needed for 540 Fest.  Volunteers who participate in Bike MS or Walk MS receive fundraising credit for volunteering.  This credit is included in your personal/team Bike MS or Walk MS fundraising totals.

Volunteer roles include:
  • Parking Attendant:  Stationed in the Wake Tech parking lot to direct runners, family and friends to the shuttle bus stops where they will be drive down to the roadway and 5K registration/check-in.  They will also direct cyclists to the route to ride down to the bike registration/check-in area on the new highway.
  • Registration/Check-In:  Stationed at either 5K Race or 10K Time Trial check-in areas.  Check-in participants including giving them their bibs/chips and shirts.
  • Bike Time Trial start attendants:  Line up cyclists for the time trial start, hold bikes while riders prepare to start.
  • Ice Cream and Beverage:  Serve individually-wrapped ice cream treats to participants; stock drink bottles/cans in ice coolers, etc.
  • General Events Assistance:  Help out where needed before, during and after the event.
  • NCTA Setup and Tear down: Assist NC Turnpike Authority with setup and tear down before and after the run/bike.

If you are available from 6 AM until noon you may register for BOTH race day registration/check-in AND General Event Assistance for extra MS funraising credit.
